BRYKK Guide · Getting Started

Getting Started

Five minutes from download to a fully connected family. Here's exactly what to do.

BRYKK welcome screen

Step 1 — Install BRYKK

1

Download from TestFlight

BRYKK is currently in beta. Tap here to join the TestFlight from your iPhone, then install BRYKK like any other TestFlight app. The full step by step setup guide walks you through installing TestFlight itself if you have never used it before.
2

Open BRYKK

No sign in screen. No password to create. BRYKK automatically uses your existing iCloud account, so the moment you launch the app you are connected. If you have never used iCloud on your iPhone, sign in to iCloud first via the iOS Settings app.
3

Allow notifications and location

BRYKK needs Always location access to detect arrivals, departures, and crashes in the background. Tap Allow While Using App when prompted, then later switch it to Always when iOS asks again. Notifications should also be allowed. Without them, you will not get the alerts that make BRYKK useful.

Step 2 — Create or join a family

BRYKK is built around a single family code — a short word like DEMO12 that links everyone in your family together. One person creates it, everyone else joins with it. That's the entire setup.

1

Create a new family (you're the first one in)

Tap Create Family. Pick a name like “The Harings.” You'll get a code on screen — copy it or tap Share to send it via Messages, email, or AirDrop.
2

Or join an existing family

Tap Join Family, enter the code whoever set up the family sent you, and you'll show up on their map within a few seconds.
💡
Family codes are case-insensitive and ignore spaces. Type fntr 72 and BRYKK will figure it out.

Step 3 — Add your photo and emoji

The map shows tiny avatars for every family member. By default you get a generic placeholder — upload a photo so your family can recognize you instantly. Tap your profile in Settings, tap your avatar, and pick a photo from your library.

You can also pick an emoji as your fallback — kids love picking 🦄 or 🐉.

Step 4 — Save your first place

BRYKK gets smart once it knows where Home is. From the main map, tap the Settings ⚙️ icon → FamilyPlaces & Trips+ Add Place. Pick “Home,” then either tap Use Current Location if you're at home or search for the address.

Set the scope:

  • Family Place — everyone in your family sees it. Pick this for Home, Work, School, Grandma's.
  • My Place — only on your devices. Pick this for personal spots like the gym or therapist.
Once you save Home, BRYKK can fire arrival/departure notifications, show the home habitat bubble on the map, and trigger the “Coming Home to You” alert when family heads back.

What's next

You're set up. The next 30 seconds you should spend:

  • Read Family Map to learn what every avatar and color means
  • Read Coming Home Alerts to set up your custom welcome message
  • Read Notifications to pick which alerts you actually want
