Temporary Location Share

Sometimes you need to share your live location with someone who isn't in your BRYKK family — an Uber driver, a friend you're meeting, your boss waiting at a job site. Temporary share gives them a web link with your live location for a few hours.

How it works

You generate a one-time URL with an expiration time. Send the link via text, email, or AirDrop. The recipient opens it in any browser — iPhone, Android, Windows, Linux, even a smart fridge. They see your live location updating in real time. When the expiration hits, the link goes dead and shows a friendly “This share has ended” page.

The recipient never installs an app, never creates an account, and never sees anything beyond your live location and your name. Total privacy on both sides.

Creating a share

  1. From the family map, tap the Share button on the bottom-left of the screen
  2. Pick how long the share should last: 15 min, 1 hr, 4 hrs, 8 hrs, 24 hrs
  3. Tap Create Share Link
  4. BRYKK generates a unique URL like brykk.app/l/abc123xyz and copies it to your clipboard
  5. Paste it into iMessage, WhatsApp, email, or anywhere else. Or use the iOS share sheet to send it directly.

What the recipient sees

A clean, mobile-friendly map page with:

  • Your name and avatar at the top
  • A live map pin showing your current location
  • Speed and direction (if you're moving)
  • ETA to a destination (if you have one set)
  • How much time is left on the share
  • Big “Open in Maps” button so they can drive to you

They cannot see anything else — no other family members, no chat, no past locations, no profile info beyond your name and avatar.

Ending a share early

Tap the share button again — if a share is currently active, you'll see “End Share Now” instead of the create flow. One tap and the link goes dead immediately.

While a temp share is running, the share button on the map turns green so you remember it's active. The bottom of every BRYKK screen also shows a small “Sharing live location with 1 person” indicator.

💡
Use temp share for situations where the recipient genuinely can't or shouldn't be in your BRYKK family — Uber drivers, real estate agents, repair people. For people who SHOULD be in the family (a partner, a parent, a kid, a roommate), add them properly with a family code so you get the full feature set.
